Quantum Rift
The first game to be brought to the Hunycomb Games ecosystem will be called “Quantum Rift”.
Quantum Rift is an Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy Sci-Fi Action MMORPG built with blockchain features such as virtual land and NFT integration.
Gameplay is third person, allowing players to see their own unique and custom avatar as they play, and uses a system similar to Fallout, allowing for a variety of different ways to play.
Throughout the world there are many secret dungeons and locations to explore, riddled with dangerous beasts and challenging traps. Other players also present a difficult challenge, and some resources can be limited, meaning competition becomes a major part of gameplay.
The world has little sections that can be purchased by players, allowing you to set up safe spots and camps, mine for resources beneath it, farm, and respawn in that location. These spots can also be rented out to other players, giving them a space to stay. Plots of land can also be restored (increase in value) or damaged by owners and other factors, meaning it is possible to buy and improve a plot and sell it for higher, in addition to supply and demand fluctuations.
These Overworld spots and other NFT or blockchain resources end up being a key part of the game’s economy. Depending on the design plan, it may be possible to expand the game world as the game’s audience and economy grows, adding new areas in need of settling and restoration.
🔅 Story Line & Lore
Andrew Abbot was a genius scientist who focused his work on dimensions, antimatter, and alternate universes. After the death of his wife and child, he decided to put his theories to the test and create inter-dimensional travel, which led him to go to a parallel universe and abduct an alternate version of his dead family members, bringing them back to his own dimension to try to restore his normal life.
In order to prevent the version of himself from that universe coming after him, he used a device to collapse the universe behind him as he left. However, as this alternate version is equally as genius, he realized what was happening and managed to escape anyway, now having nowhere to go with his home dimension destroyed.
This second incarnation adopted the name of Drew Riley, and although he was unable to track down Andrew, he decided to watch over the multiverse to avoid further disruption.
Andrew, having succeeded in his plans, continued to meddle with the universes, unconcerned about the moral consequences of his actions. He would travel between dimensions for resources or even just for fun, unconcerned by the consequences of his actions upon them. His negligence to the other dimensions bordered on sadism and cruelty, with him completely remorseless over all of the beings he was hurting or the universes he ruined, with him only considering his own desires and curiosity above all else.
Eventually Andrew makes his way to the reality that we call our own, seeking certain materials and objects he wanted for himself. Being neglectful as he is, he left for the expedition drunk, knowing he was armed with enough powerful tech that he would be safe from any consequences to his actions. Because of this, he made a major mistake with his travel, opening a dimensional rift and releasing deadly cosmic beasts upon the earth.
Andrew quickly abandoned the dimension, even with the rift expanding into the multiverse like a growing tear.
Humanity was largely slaughtered by the “Cataclysmic Beasts” spawned in the creation of the rift, with some humans managing to create a safe haven close to the rift. Now, a couple decades later, humans have begun to use the rift to travel to other dimensions, expanding their civilization across the universe and seeking interstellar resources.
The humans are not sure exactly what happened with the creation of the rift, but have managed to persist in spite of their near-extinction. Magical use is also possible, due to exposure to cosmic energies.
As the game progresses, players can learn more about Andrew and his current actions, even getting to meet Drew, who aims to stop him, and working to put an end to his cosmic destruction. This leads to a boss fight against Andrew, one that can be tackled on your own or with 2 other friends joining you.
